AIS-SA and LegalWise have decided to move the MFAD event to Soweto in order to maximize community involvement within the heart of South African soccer. The prestigious 24 hour match will continue to be the ‘main event’ but added into this years programme is a Freestyle Tournament, a Last Team Standing endurance competition and AIS will once again be focusing on a Coaching Clinic for the children of Soweto.

The 2009 AIS-SA team will again be led by Lee Sharpe, former Manchester United & England soccer player, with various cameo appearances from other ex-professionals and local celebrities. Assisted by volunteers from AIS-SA the concept is to take on 24 different local companies and organisations in one hour games of 7 a-side. Every hour there will be prize draws and the team securing the overall best result against the AIS-SA team will win a special grand prize. “Having seen the work of Ambassadors in Sport first hand in South Africa it gives me huge pleasure being the patron of the Hope Academies in South Africa.  That is why I can’t wait to be part of Match For A Day and help raise a lot of money so more people’s lives can be touched and changed by the work of AIS.”  – Lee Sharpe
